2020 Fall Florida Junior Swine Circuit

**Please note the highlighted sections, which denote new rules for the 2020 Fall Series.
Organization
a. The FJSC senior board will serve as the official record keepers.
b. Any grievances must be presented to a FJSC senior board member within 24 hours of the
incident. The grievance must be in writing and accompanied by a $50 fee. The fee will be refunded
ONLY if the grievance is approved.
a. All grievance letters may be sent to fljuniorswinecircuit@gmail.com
c. The end of the season circuit awards, location, and time will be determined and announced by
the FJSC board.

**COVID Update**
The FJSC strongly recommends that any person attending an FJSC show follow social distancing
protocols maintaining 6 feet of distance from other persons and family units. The FJSC further
strongly urges any person who is under a school or health department quarantine or anyone
exhibiting any symptoms of COVID 19 please stay at home.

If a member is unable to attend a FJSC show due to health reasons, such as a positive COVID test or
mandatory quarantine, the member may have another FJSC member show their pig(s) and points
accumulated at the show will still count for the member in quarantine. The member will not be able to get showmanship points while in quarantine.

Membership
a. Fall membership fee of $30 per exhibitor will be required for FJSC membership to be eligible
for point accumulation.
a. Membership fee is non-refundable.
b. Points will not be accumulated until AFTER membership form and entry fee have been turned in.
b. Members must be a full time legal Florida resident.
c. Membership is open to Florida youth up to 21 years old as of September 1ˢᵗ of the current
year.
a. There is no minimum age requirement to become a member, parents are to use their best
judgement. If the exhibitor has someone assisting them in the ring due to age, their points will
not count.
d. Out of state residents may show on the FJSC, but are not eligible for membership.
e. Membership fee must be paid PRIOR TO the completion of the 5ᵗʰ show of the season to
accumulate points.
f. The FJSC senior board or sanctioned show coordinator discretion will be used for any
judgement towards unsportsmanlike conduct. The FJSC highly encourages all exhibitors to be
respectful in and out of the show ring.
a. If the senior board/show coordinator witnesses any malicious behavior, the exhibitor will
receive a warning letter to revoke FJSC good standing.
b. The SECOND instance will result in accumulated point cancellation.

Sanctioned Shows

a. The FJSC is responsible for the management of the sanctioned show series. All FJSC sanctioned
shows must follow the FJSC rules and guidelines as closely as possible. A standardized entry form
will be available on the FJSC website.
b. Shows must pay a $300 fee to become sanctioned.
c. All results from the show must be submitted to the FJSC secretary via email by Tuesday at
5:00pm following the conclusion of the show. If results are not submitted by then a $100.00 fine
will be issued by the FJSC board.
d. All shows must abide by the following guidelines:
a. No more than 10 head per class- market, purebred, gilts and showmanship.
i. The only exception being up to 15 exhibitors will be allowed in the ring during the semifinal
or final heats for showmanship at the discretion of the judge.
b. Each show must have showmanship.
c. Showmanship divisions will follow that of the NJSA- however, age will be as of September 1ˢᵗ
of the current year.
i. Novice: 8 and under, Junior: 9-12, Intermediate: 13-16, and Senior: 17-21.
d. Each show must have 4 market divisions:
i. Select the top 3 in each division.
ii. In grand drive, a Top 5 Overall will be awarded.
e. Each show must have a market York, Duroc, and All Other Breed Purebred Division:
i. Select the top 3 in each division.
ii. In grand drive, a Top 5 Overall will be awarded.
**Any breed in the AOB division that maintains 6 head at every show will be shown as its own breed
the following year**
A showman may use someone else’s hog for showmanship to accumulate points.
a. Once a hog is shown by one exhibitor, it may not be shown for point’s accumulation by another.
i. An exception will be made if an exhibitor has more than one hog in the same class.
ii. If you do not want to receive points for a pig, please clarify on the show entry form.
b. Any show that does not follow through with the FJSC guidelines will be removed from the
circuit for the following year.
c. A judge can only judge one sanctioned show per show season.
d. There is no weight minimum, but we will be implementing a weight limit of 300 pounds within
the market division and 350 pounds within the crossbred gilt division.

Points System
a. Showmen will accumulate points throughout the show season as follows:
a. The top 5 shows from the show season for each exhibitor will be taken into account for overall
points.
i. Points will not be accumulated until AFTER membership form and entry fee have been turned in.
b. Points will be affiliated to the showman, not the hog.
i. Points will only be counted for your highest points achieving hog for each show. If you show
more than 1, the hogs that count towards your points, may very well change at each show.
ii. Class Points:

1. 1ˢᵗ= 10 x number of head in class (with max of 5 head)
2. 2ⁿᵈ= 9 x number of head in class (with max of 5 head)
3. 3ʳᵈ= 8 x number of head in class (with max of 5 head)
4. 4ᵗʰ= 7 x number of head in class (with max of 5 head)
5. 5ᵗʰ= 6 x number of head in class (with max of 5 head)

Example:
7 head or over in a class: 1ˢᵗ place= 50 points 5 head in a class: 1ˢᵗ place= 50 points
4 head in a class: 1ˢᵗ= 40 points 3 head in a class: 1ˢᵗ= 30 points

● The below point breakdowns are the MAX POINTS an exhibitor can receive for the hog that day if
they place in division or overall. This will not include class point accumulation.

For example:
If a hog is 2ⁿᵈ in class, reserve division and 5ᵗʰ overall, they will receive 61 points for the
day. If a hog wins their class of 7 hogs and is left standing, they will receive 50 points for the
day.
If a hog wins their class, their division and is grand overall, they will receive 65 points for the
day.

iii. Division Points:
1. Division Champion= 55 points
2. Division Reserve= 54 points
3. 3ʳᵈ Overall Division= 53 points

iv. Top 5 Overall Points:
1. Grand= 65 points
2. Reserve= 64 points
3. 3ʳᵈ Overall= 63 points
4. 4ᵗʰ Overall= 62 points
5. 5ᵗʰ Overall= 61 points

v. Showmanship Points:
1. Champion= 10 points 2. Reserve= 9 points 3. 3ʳᵈ= 8 points
4. 4ᵗʰ= 7 points 5. 5ᵗʰ= 6 points 6. 6ᵗʰ= 5 points 7. 7ᵗʰ= 4 points 8. 8ᵗʰ= 3points 9.
9ᵗʰ= 2 points

10. 10ᵗʰ= 1point

b. Purebred registration papers must be in the FJSC member’s name by December 4, 2020 at this
time registration papers must be verified/provided if a pig places in the top three within its
given breed.
a. If an exhibitor is unable to present registration papers, in the FJSC name with matching ear
notches on a pig that places in the top of its given breed, then the exhibitor will be stripped of
any acuminated points during that show. Furthermore the exhibitor must have all purebreds
registration papers verified prior to entering the ring at all remaining FJSC by the assigned FJSC
board member.
b. If any member falsifies Purebred verification, this will result in a one year suspension from
showing at any FJSC sanctioned show.
c. Showmanship points will not go towards the exhibitors overall point totals.
d. In the event of a tie, the FJSC senior board will use each exhibitor’s next best show as a tie
breaker.
a. If there is still a tie, we will utilize showmanship

Awards
a. Awards will be solely dependent upon funding.
b. Awards will be provided for the following:
a. Overall exhibitor- prizes will be awarded to the top ten overall exhibitors in both Purebred
and Crossbred Divisions
b. Showmanship- The top ten in each division (see “Sanctioned Shows” section d for age
breakouts).
i. In the event of a tie in showmanship we will consider the showman’s next highest placing in
showmanship. If there is still a tie we will continue using the showman’s next highest placing
within the showmanship division until the tie is broken. If this is not able to resolve the tie.
We will use the highest placing market score from each exhibitor (pure or cross) and the winner
will be the exhibitor that has the higher year end score.
c. Overall exhibitor does and will not include showmanship points- these will be awarded
separately.
All rules are subject to change if needed- discretion will be of the FJSC senior board.

Florida Junior Swine Circuit Gilt Shows

a. The FJSC is responsible for the management of the sanctioned show series. All FJSC sanctioned
shows must follow the FJSC rules and guidelines as closely as possible. A standardized entry form
will be available on the FJSC website.
b. Each show must have a York, Duroc, Crossbred, and All Other Purebred Division:
i. Select the top 3 in each division.
ii. In grand drive, a Top 5 Overall will be awarded.

c. Once a hog is shown by one exhibitor in either the FJSC gilt or market show, it may not be shown
for point accumulation by another.
i. An exception will be made if an exhibitor has more than one hog in the same class.
ii. If you do not want to receive points for a pig, please clarify on the show entry form.
d. Any show that does not follow through with the FJSC guidelines will be removed from the circuit
for the following year.
e. A judge can only judge one sanctioned show per show season.
f. For crossbreds there is no weight minimum, but we will be implementing a weight limit of 350
pounds at all shows. Please see below: Purebred gilts shown in the gilt show will be shown by age
and must be born on or after June 1st and are not subject to the weight rule.

Gilt Show Point System
a. Showmen will accumulate points throughout the show season as follows:
b. The top 3 shows from the show season for each exhibitor will be taken into account for overall
points.
c. Points will not be accumulated until AFTER membership form and entry fee have been turned in.
d. Points will be affiliated to the showman, not the hog.
e. Points will only be counted for your highest points achieving hog for each show. If you show
more than 1, the hogs that count towards your points, may very well change at each show.
f. At the end of the year banquet, an exhibitor can only have 1 hog in the Top 5 Overall; however
they can still be recognized in the Top 3 of multiple breed categories.
Class Points:
1. 1st= 10 x number of head in class (with max of 5 head)
2. 2nd= 9 x number of head in class (with max of 5 head)
3. 3rd= 8 x number of head in class (with max of 5 head)
4. 4th= 7 x number of head in class (with max of 5 head)
5. 5th= 6 x number of head in class (with max of 5 head)

Breed Champion Points:
1. Breed Champion= 55 points
2. Reserve Breed Champion= 54 points
3. 3rd Overall within Breed= 53 points
Top 5 Overall Points:

1. Grand= 65 points
2. Reserve= 64 points
3. 3rd Overall= 63 points
4. 4th Overall= 62 points
5. 5th Overall= 61 points
